Tottenham have started making contingency plans to restructure their squad if they drop to the Championship.
Inter Milan are looking to bring in a quality goalkeeper next term ahead of the expected exit of Yann Sommer, and they have long identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Guglielmo Vicario as the primary target.
The Serie A side have already laid the groundwork for a swoop for Guglielmo Vicario, led by sporting director Piero Ausilio, who headed to London for talks in March. The Italian international has reportedly agreed personal terms with Inter Milan ahead of a potential move in the summer transfer window.
Earlier this week, it emerged that Vicario has reached a full agreement to leave Spurs and join Inter Milan. Inter now must reach an agreement with Spurs for the goalkeeper’s transfer.
Vicario is yet to feature for Tottenham under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi as he continues his recovery from a hernia operation, performed during the March international break. Intense speculation surrounding the Italian’s future has led the Lilywhites to scour the market for a quality replacement, but that will depend on which division they find themselves in next season.

Antonin Kinsky has been deputising in goal for the injured Vicario for the last three games. It is fair to say that the Czech Republic youth international has responded well after his Champions League horror show against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital, with De Zerbi praising the goalkeeper after Wolves win.
The 23-year-old produced a marvellous save to deny Joao Gomes’ free-kick in stoppage time against Wolves last weekend, helping secure his clean sheet and three points for his team. Since returning to the first XI, fans have witnessed a genuine and meaningful redemption arc of Antonin Kinsky.
Now, according to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham would like to keep faith in Kinsky if the unthinkable happens and they drop to the Championship. The young glovesman’s performance against Atletico Madrid does raise some long-term worries, which are also shared by the club officials, who would likely seek a quality replacement for Vicario should they manage to stay in the top flight.
Several of his Tottenham teammates and ex-players came in support of Kinsky after his embarrassing Champions League debut at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in March. There were also reports suggesting that the Czech Republic Under-21 international would push for a loan move in the summer.
Barely anyone saw him featuring again for Spurs after his two high-profile errors against Atletico until Vicario’s hernia surgery, but it now looks like the Prague-born talent is enjoying a second lease of life at Tottenham under De Zerbi.
