Broadcasters backed a former midfielder to secure an emotional return should the Italian tactician depart North London this summer.

Dropping into the Championship haunts every supporter. N17 faithful continue watching their beloved side endure a disastrous league campaign. Reports from talkSPORT suggest Roberto De Zerbi lacks a relegation clause within his current contract. The Italian tactician intends to remain regardless of survival. Broadcaster Abbi Summers discussed this nightmare scenario on the Inside Spurs podcast on talkSPORT.

“I know he said that he will be there in the Championship,” the presenter explained to talkSPORT listeners. “Whether or not that is going to be true, we will soon find out if that is the case,” she continued. The popular fan named her preferred successors. “If not, my pick would be someone like a Robbie Keane,” Summers declared.“I would even say someone like Scott Parker. He knows how to get out of the division and also he played for this club.”

Fellow presenter Sonny Snelling immediately echoed Jordan and his specific thoughts on Vincent Kompany. Snelling endorsed the idea during the talkSPORT segment. “I think Parker is a good shout because you look at Kompany, everyone wrote him off at Burnley,” he argued. “He has gone to Bayern Munich and obviously I know that is a different thing, but you can take a manager and put them in a different scenario.” Kompany departed Burnley following their relegation in 2024.

Parker was subsequently appointed as his successor before clinching immediate promotion last April. His dominant side ended that amazing season on 100 points following a 33-match unbeaten run. “Parker was shocking at Bournemouth, for example,” Snelling admitted honestly to the talkSPORT audience. “But put him in a team where he is going to get that love and appreciation and understands it, then it could be a whole different scenario altogether.” The former midfielder previously managed Club Brugge in Belgium.
