Destiny Udogie is currently injured.
Given the situation that Tottenham find themselves in, there is an expectation that clubs will be lining up to pry away high-profile players from Hotspur Way when the summer window comes around. And those possibilities could be seen clearly in the rumours going around with clubs lining up to land Lilywhites players, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, among others, being linked away.
There have also been links suggesting Spurs left back Destiny Udogie could be on the move in the off-season.
Udogie has been in and out of injuries in the past couple of years, but when fit, he is surely someone who adds that offensive ability from the backline. And we saw a glimpse of that in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa last weekend.
But he has been linked with Serie A giants Juventus, interested in prying away his signature from Tottenham in the summer. They are said to have identified him as an ideal replacement for Andrea Cambiaso. But any transfer for him would be a difficult prospect for Juve, as dealing with Tottenham will not be easy given the finances involved.
Juve to propose a cash plus swap for Udogie?
With Luciano Spalletti in charge, it just raises expectations that Juventus will move for his signature this summer, as he will push to bring a profile of his capabilities to his roster. Spalletti knows Udogie well from when he worked with him in the international setup, and he would bring that ability to drive forward with his suitability to play in a system that demands aggressive fullbacks.
And we have seen those qualities shine when Udogie has played even in an inconsistent Spurs side.
Juventus could also push for a possible cash-plus-swap deal involving Michele Di Gregorio, who can be a replacement for Vicario, who has also been linked with a Tottenham exit.(h/t Sport Witness)
Will Tottenham sell?
For Tottenham, a summer reshuffle is coming, and there is a possibility that they can bag the deal at hand to get rid of a player who has been struggling with injuries lately. And that too for a reasonable fee. But if the medical staff at Hotspur Way are confident of his fitness, then Spurs should think twice before sanctioning a sale given his abilities are well suited in a Roberto De Zerbi system.
Do you think Tottenham will sell Udogie in the summer window?
