Guglielmo Vicario has missed Tottenham Hotspur’s last four games after undergoing hernia operation.

Tottenham Hotspur have made significant strides in their quest for Premier League safety with back-to-back wins under the guidance of Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park last weekend thanks to goals from Conor Gallagher and Richarlison. With the victory, they climbed above West Ham and into 17th position in the table. However, with West Ham still right on their heels, only two points behind, the job is far from over.

Next week’s fixture against Leeds United at home provides Tottenham with a great opportunity to continue their winning momentum and extend the lead over their London rivals. Roberto De Zerbi and Co. must be wary of Leeds United’s challenge. With 11 points from their last five fixtures, including a win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in April, the Whites will head to N17 with high spirits.

Roberto De Zerbi provides fitness update on Guglielmo Vicario

Heading into the game, De Zerbi has some injury concerns to deal with.

James Maddison could once again be named on the bench, but is unlikely to feature. Guglielmo Vicario is still sidelined as he continues to recover from hernia surgery. De Zerbi had revealed after the Wolves game that Guglielmo Vicario would be returning to training. However, that didn’t happen, and he did not feature against Aston Villa either.

Since undergoing a hernia operation during the March international break, the Tottenham goalkeeper has missed the last four games. Now, De Zerbi has given an update on Vicario’s fitness.

“No, Vicario is not ready yet. I don’t know what will be the plan but he’s suffering because he would like to help his teammates, but he’s not available yet,” De Zerbi said in his press conference (h/t Football London).

Truth be told, Vicario’s absence hasn’t been felt, with Antonin Kinsky deputising very well. Kinsky has looked far more composed, secured and reliable than Vicario in goal across four games. The young shot-stopper has shown great resilience to put behind his Champions League debut nightmare and deliver strong displays to bolster his side’s survival hopes.

With Vicario still not ready, Kinsky will start in Tottenham’s goal vs. Leeds United on Monday evening. Fans will expect another strong outing from the in-form Czech Republic custodian, as the Lilywhites look to make it three wins on the bounce.
