Tottenham are planning to raid the Italian market to strengthen their full-back options.
Tottenham Hotspur have done well to appoint Roberto De Zerbi willing to remain committed to the club through difficult times. His spell in charge of Spurs so far has been inspired. Two wins and a draw in four games has seen the North London club jump above West Ham and out of the relegation zone.
However, the N17 bosses must also ensure they provide De Zerbi with the players he wants by investing heavily in the summer transfer window. It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are prioritising defensive reinforcements over other positions.
Recent reports suggest De Zerbi wants to reunite with AC Milan left-back Pervis Estupinan. Liverpool’s Andy Robertson is also firmly on their radar, but the club are scouring the market for more full-back options.
Tottenham express interest in Juventus defender
According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale on X, Tottenham are among several clubs to have recently inquired about Juventus right-back Andrea Cambiaso. Barcelona, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Napoli, Manchester City, and AC Milan are all keeping tabs on the 26-year-old.
Since returning from his loan spell at Bologna in 2023, Andrea Cambiaso has been a regular for Juventus. This season, he has clocked 3,394 minutes from 44 matches, registering three goals and four assists. The Italian international has played in various defensive and wing-back positions under Luciano Spalletti.
Tottenham’s interest in Cambiaso is understandable. Destiny Udogie has struggled with persistent injury problems in the last two years, hampering his progress. Despite his injury concerns, Juventus have reportedly shown an interest in signing Udogie.
If he leaves, Spurs have to bring in a quality replacement, and Cambiaso can be a terrific option. He will be an upgrade on Udogie, both in terms of fitness and goal contributions. The Italian’s valuation is around €40-50m, and it’ll drop to €30-35m if Juventus fail to qualify for the Champions League.
Tottenham will not participate in any European competition next season. They must stay in the Premier League to have a chance of attracting quality players, including Cambiaso, whose versatility and skill set would fit very well in De Zerbi’s system. At this moment, the Lilywhites have enquired about his availability in the summer. It remains to be seen whether the club bosses up their pursuit of the Juventus star once top-flight status is secured.
