Tottenham might just avoid the dreaded drop this year.

Tottenham are already prepping for the upcoming summer transfer window with a massive squad overhaul expected at Hotspur Way. And as much as many Lilywhites fans are focusing on the outgoings, the chiefs at N17 are also prepping the blueprint for the incomings.

And among many targets, there are a few that the North Londoners are already making contracts with over a probable move. One of the players that Tottenham have already made an initial contract to sign is Andrea Cambiaso.

Juve to consider offers of €30m-€35m for 26yo

He has been placed on the list of players available for summer sale by his current employers, Juventus. And according to a recent report from Calciomercato IT, they would consider offers between €30m and €35m for the 26-year-old full-back’s signatures.

But Tottenham are not alone in the pursuit of his signing, with Premier League rivals in Liverpool and Manchester City also being interested in his signature.

Alongside the English trio, Napoli are also said to be in the picture to sign him. Though the aforementioned report states how the Premier League is expected to be the most likely destination for Cambiaso given how the Serie A clubs won’t have that financial flex to compete with any of the interested Premiership clubs.

Cambiaso is primarily a full-back, but he has been deployed in a wing-back role as well as a winger on either flank, which will give De Zerbi the kind of position-flexible option that suits his playing style. Even Pep Guardiola looked at him as a target in January 2025, which is just a layer of reference you need to see how tactically influential he can be on the pitch.

Serie A clubs have longstanding interest in Cambiaso

Now sporting director at Napoli, Giovanni Manna was decisive in bringing Cambiaso to Juventus in 2022, and he is still said to have a strong relationship with him and his camp, and that personal connection means Napoli do have an advantage if there is any stalemate and it comes down to Cambiaso’s decision. Inter Milan did try to sign him in the winter window, but Juventus blocked his move then.

Inter are said to now be looking to use Carlos Augusto as a make-weight in the transfer that can tempt Juventus into an agreement.

AC Milan have been previously linked with him, but they are no longer considered serious contenders.

Cambiaso at €35m is surely a bargain given how technically refined a player Tottenham would get. But the question is whether Tottenham can put that sort of money to sign him given the priorities to upgrade other positions as well?
