Tottenham could rival Fulham for the signing of a Brazilian talent.

Tottenham Hotspur continued their battle against relegation with a 1-1 draw with Leeds United at home on Monday evening.

It is fair to say that the North Londoners can no longer afford any major slip-ups at this stage of the season, as Roberto de Zerbi looks to guide them to safety. A two-point lead over 18th-placed West Ham means Spurs have to win their last two games to achieve safety. However, if relegation is confirmed, the N17 bosses would find it significantly harder to invest in exciting talents.

The club require fresh additions in several areas of the pitch, especially in the wide department. Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are unlikely to play again in 2026 after suffering ACL injuries, while Mathys Tel continues to blow hot and cold. Plus, Randal Kolo Muani is set to leave Tottenham and return to PSG upon the expiry of his loan contract in June.

If Spurs are serious about rebuilding their squad under De Zerbi, they must recruit dynamic wingers with high potential. They require someone with a strong injury record and the ability to elevate the quality of the roster.

Tottenham could battle Fulham for Brazilian talent Lucas Ronier

According to an exclusive report from Sport Witness, Tottenham and Fulham are tracking Coritiba winger Lucas Ronier ahead of a potential summer move. The Premier League duo have been scouting the 21-year-old, who has three goals and three assists to his name for Coritiba this season.

Since making his senior debut for Coritiba back in 2023, Lucas Ronier has gone on to rack up 107 appearances, registering 17 goals and nine assists. The diminutive right-winger has been in good form this term, catching the attention of Tottenham and Fulham in the process.

Coritiba have already rejected an offer for the young Brazilian in 2024. The offer came from Saudi Pro League club Neom, who placed a £9.4million bid to sign Ronier. The report adds that the Brazilian outfit are aware of the 21-year-old’s preference to play in Europe and feels that they can ask for more than that £9.4million figure to sell him this summer. This is because of Coritiba’s financial situation, which could force them to cash him in even if they do not want to sell their prized asset.

Tottenham must add Lucas Ronier to their attacking roster

From Tottenham’s perspective, Ronier would be a sensible acquisition to their attacking ranks. At 21, he is far from the finished product, but possesses high potential that can be unlocked under De Zerbi’s coaching. The diminutive South American has pace, power, flair, creativity and dribbling ability, and he’d be someone to add the ‘X-factor’ to Tottenham’s attack.

Ronier is no slouch defensively and often tracks back to help his full-back. Predominantly operating from the right flank, Ronier is not a traditional touchline winger but someone who likes to drift inside, link up with his teammates and cause problems in the final third.

This matches Mohammed Kudus’ profile, and perhaps, the Tottenham chiefs have set their sights on the Coritiba talent as a deputy to the Ghanaian international next season. However, with Fulham also keeping tabs, Spurs must accelerate their pursuit of Ronier if they feel he could add long-term value to the squad.
