Tottenham are scouring the market for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
Tottenham Hotspur currently sit two points ahead of 18th-placed West Ham, with two Premier League games remaining. Roberto De Zerbi’s side travel to Chelsea next week, but will be in the relegation zone this weekend if West Ham wins away to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
While the focus remains on staying in the Premier League, the Hotspur Way chiefs have started putting plans in place for the summer transfer window. Spurs are in desperate need of an injection of quality in their squad ahead of next season, regardless of which league they end up in for 2026-27. One of their priorities will be to bolster the midfield department.
The Spurs bosses are already beginning to explore that market in the event that a permanent deal cannot be struck with Bayern Munich for Joao Palhinha. Yves Bissouma is set to be released upon the expiry of his contract in the summer, while Pape Matar Sarr has emerged as a target for several major European clubs.

According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham could enter the race for Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand at some point in the summer transfer window. Manchester United and Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the Denmark international’s situation, as he could be available for €60m this summer- €20m less than his actual release clause.
“Arsenal were in touch recently, Man United are also asking to be kept informed,” one source told CaughtOffside.
“Sporting have given clubs the signal – he has a €80m release clause, but start negotiations at around €60m, and there’s a chance he can go.
“This is their model, and has been for a long time. They know this is a chance to make significant profit on the player, and he’ll be keen to make the step up to a higher level as well.”
Manchester City also remain admirers of Morten Hjulmand, while the likes of Atletico Madrid and Juventus will likely enter the conversation at some point, like Spurs, the report adds.
The 26-year-old has eight goal involvements in 43 appearances across all competitions this term. He has been a consistent performer for Sporting CP in recent years, and this is the right time for the defensive midfielder to take on a new challenge. A move to Tottenham would be exciting.
At €60m, Hjulmand would address a big problem in Spurs’ midfield, whilst being an upgrade on Bissouma. However, without European football next season, the Lilywhites would find it extremely difficult to convince the Sporting CP captain to become a part of their project. As several European big-hitters are in the race, Tottenham may well kiss goodbye to their hopes of landing the player in the summer.
