Tottenham have been linked to ‘this’ midfielder for quite a while.

Tottenham have been looking to bring in a midfielder in the summer window, and that has led the Lilywhites into the Serie A market once again, with Fiorentina midfielder Nicolò Fagioli linked with a move to N17.

Fagioli changes agents ahead of summer window

Spurs need to bring in a technical player in the second phase has led Roberto De Zerbi & Co. to Fagioli, who has also been linked with Newcastle United.

And in what comes as a massive boost to Tottenham’s pursuit of his transfer, the 25-year-old has swapped his agents, having moved from CAA Stellar Agency to Giovanni Branchini & Associates ahead of the upcoming summer window. (h/t Sport Witness)

These kinds of agent changes close to a window generally signal that the player is trying to position himself to get a transfer away from his current club or a new contract at where he is. Judging by the news, it should surely be the former for Fagioli. Branchini is one of the better agents in European football, and he does have those connections that can earn his client a possible move to the English top tier.

There were reports only earlier today that Tottenham do hold a serious interest in signing him, with the report stating that Lilywhites head coach De Zerbi was pushing to approach Serie A giants when the summer comes around. And this agent change does indicate that he could be on the move.

That being said, Fagioli is not yet pushing for a transfer for the off-season. But this changing of agents ahead of the summer window in which multiple Premier League clubs are expected to push for his signing is surely not a coincidence.

Fabio Paratici would have a role to play

Tottenham do have an in-line on signing him with Fiorentina’s sporting director Fabio Paratici already knowing the chiefs at Hotspur Way, but he is trying to hold Fiorentina’s position of keeping him. That being said, their position is flexible if a reasonable offer were to land at their table to sign Fagioli, who has become an important part of their roster this season.

Fagioli is currently on €1.8m wages per season, which is usually quite low for a midfielder plying his trade in Serie A, and that is where a possible Premier League contract would tempt him. And Tottenham surely boasts that financial flex.
