Serie A giants have registered interest in Tottenham star.

Tottenham Hotspur needs at least four points across their last two games to retain their top-flight status. Roberto De Zerbi and his side’s focus remain entirely on achieving this objective, but the planning for the summer transfer window behind the scenes has already begun.

If Spurs get relegated, it’d be difficult to keep hold of several high-profile players and young talents. Several players from the current Tottenham squad have already been linked with an exit. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have become top targets for European clubs, while Inter Milan want Guglielmo Vicario to replace Yann Sommer.

Now, there is another Spurs player attracting interest from a European outfit.

Juventus eye summer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence

According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Djed Spence is attracting ‘strong interest’ from Juventus. The Serie A side are eyeing fresh faces at full-back positions, and have set their sights on the Tottenham man.

We have seen Djed Spence come a long way at White Hart Lane. Once deemed surplus to requirements and on the verge of being permanently offloaded, the England international has turned it around and deserves massive praise. He may not have featured much under new boss Roberto De Zerbi during the relegation battle, but it would be wrong to suggest the full-back doesn’t have a future at the club.

Spence’s performances in a Spurs shirt have unsurprisingly gone unnoticed across the Premier League and Europe. The 25-year-old may also have suitors in the Premier League, but currently, Juventus are the only club to have registered a concrete interest. However, the report adds that Tottenham do not have any interest in selling Spence in the upcoming summer transfer window.

“It’s hard to see Spurs keeping Djed Spence if they go down,” one source told CaughtOffside.

“Juventus have a concrete interest, though obviously for now their message is that they don’t want to sell. In reality, the expectation is that will change if they go down. With Spence, they’re looking at a potential €40m sale and £87,000 a week off their wage bill, which unfortunately is an essential cost-cutting measure if they’re preparing for life in the Championship.”

Djed Spence could push to leave Tottenham if they go down

Relegation for Tottenham would be catastrophic, as it would not only lead to financial issues but also a mass exodus of players. Someone like Spence may want to leave in that scenario, having now become an England international.

After spending many seasons in the lower divisions of English football, the right-back is at the stage of his career where he needs to kick on and go to the next level. That would only happen if the English talent continues to play in top leagues. Having had previous experience in Serie A football with Genoa, Spence would likely view Juventus as a step up in his career.

With or without Premier League football, the N17 bosses must do their best to keep hold of Spence. However, if Juve comes knocking on the door, and Spence pushes to leave, then Tottenham must at least look to get a reasonable fee.
