Tottenham have had problems scoring goals this season.
Tottenham Hotspur are determined to retain their Premier League status in the coming weeks at the expense of West Ham United. Both clubs are locked in a relegation battle during the final stages of the campaign.
Roberto de Zerbi has done an excellent job at N17 since taking over the reins from interim manager Igor Tudor. The Italian tactician has steadied a sinking ship at Hotspur Way and guided the Lilywhites back to winning ways. However, the club remains aware that reinforcements are needed in the upcoming transfer window. There are several glaring issues within the squad that must be addressed in the coming months, chief among them being the lack of a goalscorer.
With 11 goals, Richarlison is the club’s top scorer this campaign. For a Tottenham team wanting to compete at the top and win prizes, that is simply not enough. Dominic Solanke has spent the majority of the campaign on the sidelines, while Randal Kolo Muani is expected to return to PSG after his loan expires.
Tottenham put on red alert following Fiorentina star’s uncertain future
Spurs must sign an upgrade on Richarlison, who will enter the final year of his contract in the summer. They need a replacement capable of making an immediate impact at the club under De Zerbi.
According to a report from Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham have been alerted by the uncertain future of Moise Kean at Fiorentina. The striker’s future at Fiorentina is under serious scrutiny after a disappointing season in which he has managed just eight Serie A goals.
The Italian international was in red-hot form last campaign, which yielded 25 goals in all competitions. This led to Moise Kean receiving a contract extension and a pay hike, but he has failed to justify it this term. Given his high wages, the centre-forward’s situation at Fiorentina is complex heading into the summer transfer window.
The report adds that Kean holds a release clause of €62 million, a 20% increase triggered by last season’s performances, valid until July 15.
Why Tottenham must avoid signing Kean
Kean’s productivity has dipped massively in comparison to last season. Plus, he has struggled with a persistent tibia problem throughout this campaign, hampering his performance levels.
At 26 and with tons of experience of playing in different levels, one would expect the striker to become a regular source of goals for his team. There was an expectation that Kean would kick on after netting 25 goals and trying to surpass that tally; however, that hasn’t happened.
Keeping that in mind, coupled with his tibia problem and hefty €62 million release clause, Spurs would be better off making a move for the Fiorentina man.
