Tottenham have made a subtle change to the stadium tunnel which could benefit players.
According to Football London, Tottenham Hotspur have made a meaningful change to the players’ tunnel at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the most important stretch of their season, painting the beam above the tunnel gold and emblazoning it with the words ‘All Together Always’, the motto that captain Cristian Romero has consistently used when posting about the club on social media.
The tweak, subtle enough that only eagle-eyed observers would have initially noticed it, carries a significance that goes well beyond aesthetics. As the Tottenham players turn right from their dressing room and walk toward the pitch, they are now greeted by images of fans and players celebrating together on both sides of the tunnel walls, with ‘All Together Always’ printed in large white letters on each side. The message is unmistakable and deliberate, a reminder of what this club means and who they are fighting for at the most pressurised moment of their season.
The motto was also displayed across the electronic hoardings around the stadium in the build-up to Monday’s Leeds fixture, and fans in the south stand created a huge tifo reading ‘Together Always’ that complemented the club’s messaging in striking fashion. The coordination between the club’s internal changes and the supporters’ own display reflects a unity of purpose that has been building steadily under De Zerbi’s management.
The new tunnel scenery made its first visible public appearance in the club’s pre-match social media video, which showed James Maddison delivering a passionate pep talk to his teammates before they headed out to warm up ahead of the Leeds match. That Maddison, returning from his long-term ACL injury, was the figure chosen to deliver that message in the newly transformed tunnel adds another layer of emotional resonance to the moment.
Tottenham have also added flame machines
Tottenham have also introduced flame machines launching fire into the air before kick-off, a visual addition designed to generate atmosphere and energy that other Premier League stadiums have embraced.
The club’s final home game of the season comes against Everton on the last day, but before that De Zerbi takes his side to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night in search of only their second Premier League era victory at the west London ground. The tunnel may be transformed, but it is what happens on the pitch over the next two fixtures that will ultimately define this extraordinary season.
