Tottenham assistant coach is on ‘this’ club’s radar.

Tottenham Hotspur face the prospect of losing assistant coach Andreas Georgson to Manchester United this summer, with Gary Ward reporting on X that Michael Carrick’s coaching staff are interested in bringing the Swede to Old Trafford.

Georgson arrived at Tottenham as part of De Zerbi’s backroom team and has been a key figure in the training ground work that has underpinned the visible improvement in Tottenham’s performances since the Italian took charge in late March.

Losing Georgson would deal a massive blow

Losing a member of De Zerbi’s trusted inner circle before the rebuild has even properly begun would represent an unwanted complication for a manager who has spent considerable time building a cohesive and trusted staff around him.

The timing is particularly sensitive. Tottenham are still fighting for Premier League survival with the Chelsea fixture on Tuesday evening and a final day trip to Everton to follow. The last thing De Zerbi needs as he prepares his squad for the most consequential 48 hours of the season is distraction surrounding his own backroom staff.

Manchester United’s interest reflects the regard in which Georgson is held within the coaching community. De Zerbi has always placed enormous value on the quality and loyalty of his staff, and the synergy between a head coach and his assistants is central to how his methods are communicated and embedded within a squad. An assistant who understands De Zerbi’s philosophy and can translate it effectively on the training pitch is not easily replaced, and United’s pursuit of Georgson is a recognition of exactly that value.

Whether the interest develops into a formal approach and ultimately a departure will become clearer once the season concludes. For now, Tottenham’s focus must remain entirely on what happens at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday and at Goodison Park on Sunday. The summer’s complications, of which there will be many, can wait. Survival cannot.
