Tottenham are set to be in the market for midfield reinforcements amid the uncertain futures of a few stars.

During the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur were in the market for midfield reinforcements in the wake of injuries to Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall.

Spurs managed to bring in Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid and were keen to add another body in the engine room. As a result, they explored the signing of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones. It was not entirely surprising, given the injuries Tottenham had in their squad at the time.

Right now, Spurs remain well-stocked in that area of the pitch, but with Yves Bissouma out of contract at the end of the season and Joao Palhinha’s future up in the air amid Sporting CP links, the club bosses are set to be in the market for fresh faces in the middle of the park. We are now approaching the summer transfer window, and Tottenham could once again revisit their interest in Curtis Jones.

Inter Milan eye move for Liverpool star Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones has been in talks with Liverpool over a new deal for several months but no agreement has been reached on an extension. The 25-year-old has struggled to secure a regular starting role in the Reds’ midfield, managing only 33 Premier League outings. The one-club man with over 150 PL appearances, has started only 17 of those and has been deployed recently as an emergency right-back.

Now, according to a report from The Times, Inter Milan are expected to renew their interest in the summer, when he will enter the final 12 months of his contract. The Serie A champions, who enquired about the England international in January, remain keen and are likely to make another approach in the summer window. However, they could be rivalled by Tottenham for the central midfielder’s signing.

Liverpool value their academy graduate at around £35m, and selling him would go down as pure profit in their books. The versatile English is not currently pushing for a move, but the Reds are said to be reassessing his role in the squad and market value ahead of him entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Tottenham must try their best to land Jones

Inter’s admiration of Jones would represent major competition for Tottenham should they reignite their interest. It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri will match Liverpool’s £35m for the six-cap England international, who could be available on a free transfer in 2027.

For Spurs, they should ideally not have problems fulfilling the Merseyside outfit’s demands, provided Jones is ready to become a part of De Zerbi’s project. The Liverpool man is a classic box-to-box central midfielder with proven Premier League experience and leadership skills. Having lifted many trophies with his boyhood club, the 25-year-old would also bring the winning mentality to the Tottenham dressing room.

There’s no doubt that the Englishman would improve the majority of the teams in the Premier League, and Spurs need to get ahead of Inter to try to secure his signature.
