The Tottenham loanee is one of their most valuable players.
Tottenham Hotspur sensation Luka Vuskovic has been linked away from Hotspur Way after the impressive output that the Croat has been putting in the German top tier in his loan spell with Hamburger SV.
Inter Milan interested in Luka Vuskovic
And those performances have seen some of the most elite clubs in Europe lining up a move for him when the summer comes around, with the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, and Liverpool already looking to push for his signing. But adding to what is already a growing list of suitors for the Croatian, Serie A giants Inter Milan have also identified him as a summer target.
According to a recent report from Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), the newly crowned Italian double winners are said to be plotting an ambitious move to sign the Tottenham teenager, with Christian Chivu already having a keen eye to build their squad for when next season comes around.
Vuskovic is highly rated by Tottenham, and surely the Lilywhites’ supporters would like to keep a hold of him for when next season comes around, especially with either (or both) of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven linked with a move away from N17. So it is highly unlikely that they will sanction any exit for him in the off-season, and even if they do, it will surely not be for a cheap fee.
Inter alternating between him and Barca man
The report in the Italian newspaper insists that this possible approach from Inter Milan for his signing will be a more ambitious part of the recruitment plan that they have at San Siro after their league and cup double. They are prioritising getting that contract renewal for Chivu first before Inter pushes to strengthen their roster for next season.
Vuskovic has been identified as a candidate to play in that back three that they play under Chivu, with Ronald Araujo of Barcelona also being an alternative to the Spurs man.
The report notes that neither Tottenham nor Barcelona is expected to make either player available at anything below their €50m-plus valuations.
The more logical thing that this board can do is to use Vuskovic at the heart of defence as more of a foundation of their rebuild rather than pounce on his sale and get a fee for him, given his big ceiling.
At 19, he is exactly the type of player that Tottenham should build around with Roberto De Zerbi on the sidelines.
