Tottenham are planning to splash the cash on a new striker in the upcoming transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur’s battle for Premier League survival will now go down to the final day following their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
The North London outfit went into the game against Chelsea knowing that a point would be enough to preserve their top-flight status, due to their superior goal difference over relegation rivals West Ham United. However, they were unable to get the point they needed and must now get a positive result against David Moyes’ Everton at home on the judgement day.

Attacking reinforcements have to be at the top of the club’s agenda after the current forwards failed to influence games and find the back of the net consistently this season.
Richarlison is the club’s top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions; however, it is quite evident that the Brazilian international cannot be trusted to shoulder the responsibility to lead the attack for an entire season, as he is injury-prone and inconsistent. Randal Kolo Muani showed against Chelsea why he’s been such a poor signing for Tottenham, while Dominic Solanke’s injury struggles remain an issue.
Tottenham eye move for Benfica striker
According to reliable journalist Ekrem Konur, Tottenham are interested in signing Benfica hitman Vangelis Pavlidis. De Zerbi has identified the Greek international to lead his team’s attack next season, which prompted the Tottenham board to move into the next phase of negotiations. The Lilywhites are yet to submit an offer for the player, who has been scouted by Aston Villa and AS Roma in the last few games.
Vangelis Pavlidis has enjoyed a scintillating season with Benfica, bagging 30 goals and six assists in 53 games. The 27-year-old’s hot form has unsurprisingly gone unnoticed across Europe, although he is protected by an £85million release clause. But Benfica are ready to listen to offers at around £52 million, Konur adds.
Pavlidis would be an upgrade on Richarlison
Pavlidis would be an interesting buy for Tottenham, thanks to the traits that De Zerbi likes in a forward. He is more than just a pure No.9; the big Greek is technically secure and can link up play with fellow attackers in the final third. At 27, he is at the peak of his powers and could jump at the chance to play for a prestigious club like Tottenham.
Purely going by his goalscoring at Benfica, where he has bagged 60 goals in 110 appearances thus far, Pavlidis would be an instant upgrade on Richarlison. The ex-AZ Alkmaar star would enhance Tottenham’s attack by providing a consistent supply of goals.
