Tottenham have to show ambition in the upcoming summer transfer window after narrowly avoiding relegation.
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to bolster their attack during the upcoming summer transfer window after Dominic Solanke endured an injury-plagued season, missing more than half the season due to injuries.
Randal Kolo Muani is also due to return to Paris Saint-Germain from his loan at Spurs, while Richarlison enters the final year of his contract in June. Moving forward, though, Richarlison may seek a new experience after four inconsistent seasons in North London.
This injury crisis at N17 during the recently concluded campaign means Spurs must recruit players who have a strong injury record and are capable of hitting the ground running. Roberto De Zerbi, after guiding the club to top-flight safety, will be hoping for full backing from the Lewis family during the transfer window, as he looks to help the North Londoners compete at the top end of the Premier League table next season.
AC Milan striker wanted by Tottenham
According to a report from Mexican outlet TUDN, AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez has emerged as a surprise candidate for Tottenham. The 25-year-old will be representing Mexico at the World Cup, and after the showpiece event, he has not ruled out leaving San Siro.
Santiago Gimenez was a prolific goalscorer during his two-and-a-half seasons with Eredivisie side Feyenoord, plundering 65 goals in 105 appearances. During the 2025 winter transfer window, AC Milan beat stiff competition from European clubs to sign the Mexican international. However, it is fair to suggest the move hasn’t worked out.
The centre-forward is coming off a disappointing season with zero goals in Serie A, made even more difficult by a long-term ankle injury that kept him sidelined from the end of October until March. This limited Gimenez to only 18 appearances during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring only once in the Coppa Italia. An ankle surgery saw him miss 22 games, and with head coach Max Allegri getting fired following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, Gimenez’s future seems increasingly away from Milan.
A gamble worth taking for Tottenham?
There is a clear need for a new striker at White Hart Lane. A strong back-up striker will also keep Solanke on his toes and provide cover if the England international needs to be rotated during the season.
Milan’s Gimenez has emerged on the radar of the Lilywhites. The 25-year-old has not lived up to his expectations at San Siro, and signing him would be a huge risk taken by the Hotspur Way chiefs. Not only that, the centre-forward underwent ankle surgery and subsequently missed over 20 games. For a club that was crippled with injuries, signing the Mexican would be quite a gamble.
That being said, however, if Gimenez gets his mojo back and enjoys a strong home World Cup, Tottenham may then consider a move. A loan with an option to buy would suffice.
