The ambitious North Londoners star will represent his proud nation on the grandest global stage after playing a pivotal role throughout the qualification campaign.

International football always brings massive pressure, and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr will know it incredibly well. He just earned confirmation within the final 26-man Senegal squad, after having made the provisional 28-man squad a couple of weeks ago.

The passionate N17 faithful have every reason to follow the tournament closely, and this trip marks the second time the midfielder heads to a World Cup. He previously featured twice during the 2022 edition in Qatar. The 23-year-old anchor already boasts thirty-eight senior caps for his country.

Pape Sarr played in every single World Cup qualifying game stretching back to November 2023, and that stellar run helped the Lions of Teranga lock down their tournament place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico easily.

MetLife Stadium and BMO Field match schedules confirmed for Group I tournament fixtures

Senegal feature in a rather difficult group, as Group I features France, Norway, and Iraq. The African nation opens its campaign against France at the MetLife Stadium on 16 June at 8 pm UK time. It is followed by a tough clash against Norway at the same venue on 23 June at 1 am UK time. The final group fixture takes place against Iraq at BMO Field in Toronto three days later at 8 pm UK time. Sarr will definitely see some very familiar faces across the Atlantic this summer, as several other Tottenham players received their international calls, too.

Defensive prodigy Luka Vuskovic is heading to the tournament after great form. Swedish starlet Lucas Bergvall also earned a deserved spot with his national side. Meanwhile, newly signed defender Kevin Danso made the final Austria squad, too. Roberto De Zerbi will surely watch these summer games closely. Testing themselves against elite global talent helps young players grow up fast. The Lilywhites stand to benefit significantly when grueling pre season training camp begins in July.
