Tottenham are facing competition from Inter Milan and Marseille for the signing of highly-rated Serie A defender.

Andy Robertson officially joined the North Londoners on a free transfer from Liverpool on Friday afternoon, bringing vast experience, winning mentality and proven leadership to a Spurs squad that narrowly escaped relegation on the final day of last season. The Scotland skipper’s arrival has been viewed as a crucial piece of business within the N17 offices, adding a player who has won every major club honour available during his time at Anfield.
Certainly, Robertson is not going to be the first and last addition to Tottenham’s defensive ranks. Marcos Senesi is expected to become a part of De Zerbi’s squad rebuild after the Lilywhites reached a verbal agreement with the former Bournemouth man last month. Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Senesi will soon be announced as the club’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
Tottenham face competition from Marseille and Inter Milan for AS Roma star Evan Ndicka
Another central defender who has been linked to Tottenham is Evan Ndicka of AS Roma. The Ivorian has been a consistent performer in Serie A for the last two seasons, impressing with his mix of technical ability, game-reading and physicality. The centre-back made 42 appearances in all competitions this past season for AS Roma, scoring five goals.
This has led to Evan Ndicka attracting heavy interest from clubs across Europe. It recently emerged that three important abroad clubs, including one from Serie A, are keen to recruit him this summer. And now the identity of those clubs has been revealed.
According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Inter Milan and Marseille are set to compete with Tottenham for Ndicka’s signing. AS Roma value their star defender in the region of €35m, a huge profit considering he arrived for free from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023.
Fresh from winning the Scudetto, Inter Milan are targeting a central defender to bolster their defensive spine for the next season. Ndicka has been identified as an option, and having proven himself in Serie A for the past three years, he’d be a fantastic fit for Inter. As for Marseille, they finished fifth in Ligue 1 and subsequently qualified for the Europa League. The French side might be viewing Ndicka as a cover for Leo Balerdi, who suffered an injury in training and has been ruled out of the World Cup.
From Tottenham’s perspective, Ndicka’s signing would not make any sense now. This is down to Micky van de Ven reportedly deciding to stay put at the club after De Zerbi’s men beat the drop, coupled with the imminent arrival of Senesi. Van de Ven, Senesi and Ndicka are all left-footed centre-backs, so the Lilywhites will do well to avoid going for the Roma man.
