Tottenham fans receive a positive update on their injured star set to miss the upcoming World Cup.
Even though the final feeling from the 2025/26 Premier League season for Tottenham Hotspur was a moment of elation as a result of them beating the drop with a 1-0 win over Everton on the final day, the overall sentiment of the campaign was that of embarrassment.
The North Londoners replicated their 17th-place finish in the Premier League after winning the Europa League in 2025, and if not for Roberto De Zerbi, they would have certainly gone down. One of the club’s summer additions, Mohammed Kudus, was undoubtedly Tottenham’s best player in the first half of the season. He was the bright spark in an otherwise dismal campaign, demonstrating his potential to decide games with his dribbling, flair, creativity and shooting.
The Ghanaian international was one of the most effective dribblers in the Premier League before his season-ending injury. Mohammed Kudus was expected to return in March from a quad injury sustained in January; unfortunately, he suffered a setback in training and did not feature again for the Lilywhites.
Matt Law drops positive injury update on Mohammed Kudus
Tottenham missed Kudus’ services for the entire second half of the season. None of the attackers on the current roster could replace him in the first XI, as Spurs struggled with invention, dynamism and cutting edge from the right flank.
The 25-year-old has been unfortunate to miss out on Ghana’s World Cup squad due to the injury setback he suffered in Tottenham training in April. He was left out of Ghana’s squad by Carlos Queiroz, who was appointed to the job less than three months before the start of the showpiece event. Missing out on the World Cup is a heartbreak for Kudus after he first announced himself on the world stage with his eye-catching displays in Qatar back in 2022.
Nonetheless, not everything is doom and gloom for Kudus. As per the latest injury update delivered by the reliable Telegraph journalist Matt Law on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, the creative right-winger is expected to be fit for the start of the 2026-27 season for Tottenham. However, he did not say whether the African star is expected to be fit for the start of pre-season, which will commence in July.
It is reassuring for Tottenham fans to hear the reliable Matt Law deliver a positive injury update on Kudus, who is yet to play under Roberto De Zerbi. In De Zerbi’s possession-based, front-footed and pressing style of play, the Ghanaian will be expected to flourish and become more productive. Our supporters would expect the former West Ham man to enjoy the Italian tactician’s system more than Thomas Frank’s.
Once the pre-season commences next month, we will get to know more about the status of Kudus’ injury recovery.
