Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic is in favour of joining Brighton.
It is safe to say that Tottenham Hotspur are extremely active in this summer transfer window.
The Lilywhites have agreed a £52 million deal with Brighton & Hove Albion for the signing of Jan Paul van Hecke. The Dutch defender is set to sign a long-term contract and become the club’s third signing of the summer transfer window, after deals for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers have already been wrapped up.
Van Hecke had entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Amex Stadium, leaving Brighton with a decision to cash in or risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. After rejecting two offers earlier, the Seagulls have now accepted a £52 million bid from Tottenham.
The south coast side have already identified Tottenham youngster Luka Vuskovic as a potential replacement for Van Hecke. Recent reports have claimed that Luka Vuskovic has already agreed personal terms with Brighton, a clear indication of his desire to leave N17 and progress in his career after enjoying an excellent loan campaign with SV Hamburger in the Bundesliga.
Now there’s been a fresh update on Brighton’s chase for the Croatian starlet.
Tottenham reject second Brighton bid for Luka Vuskovic
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Tottenham have turned down a £35 million bid from Brighton to sign Vuskovic, their second-most valuable player. It’s the second offer made by Fabian Hurzeler’s club, as they look to replace Van Hecke with the teenage prodigy from Croatia.
Vuskovic’s prospects of breaking into the Tottenham side has significantly reduced following Senesi’s signing, with Van Hecke set to follow next. Considering his ability at such a young age, the Split-born talent will want to play regularly and prove himself at a high level. It is understandable why he wants to join a club like Brighton, as Tottenham face a real challenge to keep hold of the 19-year-old.
Spurs clearly value Vuskovic a lot higher than Brighton’s second bid in the region of £35 million. The Seagulls appear determined to bring in Vuskovic to strengthen their backline ahead of the 2026/27 season, which will involve Conference League football.
Having rejected the second bid, it remains to be seen if and when Brighton comes up with their next offer for the big Croat.
