Brighton have submitted a third proposal for talented Tottenham centre-back.
Tottenham Hotspur splashed out £52m to sign Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this week, bringing the Netherlands international to White Hart Lane to continue the defensive revamp. Before Van Hecke’s arrival, Spurs confirmed the signings of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively.
Brighton have been trying to do business the other way, though, targeting the highly-rated defender Luka Vuskovic. The Seagulls have already seen two bids being rejected by Tottenham, with the last one worth £35m. From the player’s part, Luka Vuskovic has already agreed personal terms with Brighton, a clear indication of his desire to leave Tottenham after enjoying an impressive loan campaign with SV Hamburger in the Bundesliga.
Now there’s been a fresh update on Brighton’s chase for the teenage prodigy.
Brighton table third bid for Luka Vuskovic
According to an exclusive revelation by transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano on X, Brighton have submitted a new official bid to Tottenham for Luka Vuskovic. The offer is believed to be worth £45m package, including add-ons, with the North London club set to decide soon.
Vuskovic, the second-most valuable Tottenham player, is currently with the Croatia squad at the 2026 World Cup. The 19-year-old started and played 63 minutes in Croatia’s embarrassing 4-2 defeat to England in their World Cup opener. At the club level, the central defender is concerned about a possible lack of game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, particularly after the acquisitions of Senesi and Van Hecke.
It is a genuine worry for someone who is at the developmental stages of his career. After the big strides he made on loan at Hamburg, it’d be extremely criminal for the Croatian defender to accept a squad option role at Tottenham. Vuskovic clearly requires regular minutes and the right guidance to continue his meteoric rise, and he thinks it will be possible at Brighton.
There is no doubt Vuskovic is more likely to play regularly at the Amex Stadium, especially after the Seagulls sold Van Hecke to Spurs. Skipper Lewis Dunk will turn 35 in November, so there is every opportunity the Split-born starlet can establish himself as a mainstay and leader in Brighton’s rearguard for many years to come.
From Brighton’s perspective, their third bid, worth £45m package, falls way short of Spurs’ £60m asking price of Vuskovic. So, it remains to be seen whether our club officials agree to a compromise or reject the South Coast Club’s latest proposal. Barcelona making an approach for the talented defender lately could further make things interesting.
