Tottenham Hotspur‘s summer rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi appears set to extend beyond the outfield positions, with experienced goalkeepers Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow reportedly emerging as options to strengthen the club’s depth between the posts.
According to well-connected Spurs source Paul O’Keefe, Tottenham are considering both goalkeepers as they assess the market for an experienced backup and competition option ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. Dubravka comes across as the leading candidate, while Darlow also sees himself under consideration.
This is just Tottenham’s desire to add reliability and experience to a squad that is undergoing significant change. While Guglielmo Vicario remains the club’s established first-choice goalkeeper, the coaching staff are evaluating the depth chart behind him. With domestic and cup commitments placing increasing demands on squads, De Zerbi appears keen to ensure there is sufficient quality available if rotation becomes necessary.

Dubravka would bring a wealth of Premier League experience. The Slovak international has spent the majority of his career in England with Newcastle United, making almost 200 appearances in total (197 to be precise) establishing himself as one of the league’s more dependable goalkeepers during his peak years. His shot-stopping ability, command of the penalty area and leadership qualities make him an attractive short-term option for clubs seeking proven experience. Reports suggest he currently sits at the top of Tottenham’s goalkeeper shortlist.
Darlow, meanwhile, offers a different profile. The Welsh international currently plays for Leeds United after a lengthy spell at Newcastle. Now 35, he has enjoyed a resurgence in recent seasons and helped Leeds return to the Premier League before maintaining strong performances at the top level. His experience in English football, combined with a reputation as a dependable squad player, makes him a realistic and potentially cost-effective option.
The links also fit Tottenham’s broader transfer strategy this summer. Successful squads are often built upon experienced professionals capable of contributing immediately when called upon. Goalkeeper is a position where experience can be particularly valuable, and both Dubravka and Darlow would provide exactly that.
