Tottenham setback in pursuit of 17 G/A PL star after the 29yo reportedly agrees four-year contract with Leeds

Tottenham are hoping to add attacking reinforcements in the ongoing transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are in dire need of new attackers after reinforcing their defensive unit with three signings. They will be without Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert for the start of the upcoming season after the duo sustained ACL ruptures earlier this year.

There is a possibility that Mohammed Kudus will recover in time to take part in the pre-season tour starting from July. However, going by the double injury setbacks Kudus suffered in his first season at White Hart Lane, playing him week in week out will be a risky move by De Zerbi.

It has not gone unnoticed that the North Londoners are trying to crack a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho. The pressing need remains an injection of fresh spark and energy in the final third, which has also led to Tottenham expressing an interest in signing Harry Wilson.

Tottenham face setback in pursuit of former Fulham star

Harry Wilson finished the last season with 10 goals and seven assists in 36 league games for Fulham after notching six goals and an assist in 25 league games in 2024-25. The Wales international was Fulham’s standout performer; however, he could not agree to a contract extension with the West Londoners and left the club at the end of the campaign.

However, Tottenham have now faced a setback in their pursuit of the 29-year-old. According to a report from BBC Sport, Wilson has agreed a four-year contract with Leeds United. The move is subject to a medical and the formal signing of a contract, with the versatile attacker’s terms with Fulham expiring next week.

Leeds United attempted to sign the Wales star on transfer deadline day last summer before the move collapsed. This time, though, the Whites seem to have got their man, which should come as a big blow for Spurs.

There is no doubting that Wilson’s creativity, shooting, movement, and versatility would have instantly enhanced Tottenham’s first XI. The former Liverpool man’s ability to operate as a No.10, wide attacker or a false 9 should have hugely benefited De Zerbi’s side, providing top-flight experience, quality, flexibility and cutting edge.

Wilson had the required skill set to fit well in De Zerbi’s system, and missing out on a Premier League-proven commodity at the peak of his powers could prove costly for the Lilywhites in the years ahead. Fans will now hope that the Spurs officials can identify an even better alternative to Wilson as they continue to back De Zerbi in the current transfer window.
