Tottenham have been one of the busiest clubs.
Tottenham Hotspur has been looking at revamping its second-phase options before the commencement of the new season, and that is where Roberto De Zerbi has been eyeing two high-profile Premier League midfielders in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
While Man United have established a strong hold in their pursuit of the latter, Tottenham have been compounding their efforts to sign Tonali. And in order to ensure his signing, Spurs have already offered him a £12m-a-year wage deal that will see him become one of the higher-paid midfielders in Europe.
But Tottenham are not said to be alone in the race to his signing anymore, with Arsenal and Manchester City also linked with him recently.
It is the fact that Tottenham have not been able to agree on the fee that has pushed the Gunners and the Cityzens to creep into conversations for his signing.

But according to a recent report from Gianluca Di Marzio, as relayed by Tutto Atalanta, Tonali wants to “honor his word” that he has given to Roberto De Zerbi after having personally committed to his countryman. He goes on to state that while everything is still not under Tonali”s control surrounding a probable move, he is still doing everything he can to convince Newcastle to accept the offer that the Lilywhites come in with.
It is quite known that the former Brighton man is behind the Lilywhites’ accelerated push to bring Tonali to Tottenham, and the fact that Tonali is ready to reciprocate that trust shows that Tottenham are set to get a man who will be ready to run himself to ground for the gaffer on the sidelines.
Newcastle are under no pressure to sell
Tonali has a deal at St. James Park that expires in 2028, so the Magpies have no real reason to be forced into making a concession as far as the pricing point is concerned.
With the personal terms already out of the way, this reported pay raise gives Tonali an added monetary bonus alongside the ambition that he will get at Tottenham. And with De Zerbi also pushing for a move, it adds that weight, which carries much more trust than if this were a mere recruitment team-driven transfer. It helps Tonali feel more secure about things.
But now it is about Tottenham and Newcastle finding common ground around fees.
