The star recently expressed his desire to leave Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur has been looking at a major squad revamp in the ongoing summer transfer window as Roberto De Zerbi looks to tweak the roster at his disposal to add immediate quality.

Emery ready to bring in Bergvall at Villa Park

And while there are some players that the Lilywhites supporters expected to be part of this summer exodus, a certain Lucas Bergvall has emerged as a surprise name who has been linked with a Spurs exit this offseason.

And since the news of his exit has emerged, the names of Chelsea and Aston Villa have started to emerge, with both the clubs having held interest in the Swede’s signature since the last winter window.

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Unai Emery is ready to bring in Lucas Bergvall on his roster especially if they are to sell Lamare Bogarde to make way for him.

Bogarde has been linked with PL duo already

There have been interests from Sunderland and Brighton to land Bogarde this summer, and Villa are already bracing for an offer for the 22-year-old who made 44 appearances donning the Villa badge in all competitions last season, showing how he was an integral part of proceedings at Villa.

It is his versatility that benefits Villa, given he can play not only in the middle of the park but also in the back line as a center back and a right back. And that versatile profile not only gives Villa options but also gives some sense of tactical dynamism on the pitch.

The report states that while Villa are looking to extend his contract, it is not a coincidence that the news of a possible sale is emerging even if it will take a significant fee from either Sunderland or Brighton.

Villa will need hefty funds if they are to make a serious move for Bergvall, and if they do so by swapping Lamare Bogarde, as the aforementioned report indicates, then they will be shuffling that versatility with a runner profile who brings tempo in the middle of the park.

The most exemplified problem about bringing in Bergvall for Bogarde would be to also bring in a backup in the right back role at Villa Park. They have Matty Cash alongside Andres Garcia, but the latter missed most of the season with injuries, showing that they need a player who will be an option in the role if Bogarde is to leave.

We will see where this goes, but it looks like Villa are set to make their move for Bergvall a whole lot more intense, especially if they end up selling Bogarde.
