‘This’ PL club is pushing to sign Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic demonstrated why he is so highly rated in just his first season at a high level while on loan at SV Hamburger.
The central defender earned huge plaudits in the Bundesliga as arguably one of the top five players in the league for the 2025/26 season. Owing to the roaring success he enjoyed with SV Hamburger, where he registered seven goal contributions in 30 appearances, the Croatian international, currently on World Cup duty, is being tracked by several top clubs in England and across Europe.
Spurs have already turned down a couple of bids from Brighton as they are not willing to listen to offers for Luka Vuskovic. From the player’s part, Luka Vuskovic has already agreed personal terms with Brighton, a clear indication of his desire to leave Tottenham to continue his development. The lanky defender wants to either be backed as a starter for the Lilywhites immediately or have the opportunity to go elsewhere and shine.
Brighton not giving up on Luka Vuskovic
The Seagulls remain keen to add to their centre-back options this summer. After selling Jan Paul van Hecke to Spurs for £52m earlier this month, they have identified Vuskovic as the top target to replace the Dutchman. Their last offer for the Croatian talent was said to be around £45m.
Now, according to reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, Brighton are not giving up on Vuskovic despite seeing three bids rejected by Tottenham. The south coast club are still pushing behind the scenes, with talks expected to develop in the coming days.
Given the pathway to regular first-team football looks difficult at Hotspur Way due to the presence of senior figures in central defence, Vuskovic is right to seek a move away from the club this summer. After a fruitful season on loan in the competitive Bundesliga, it’d not be ideal for the teenager to go back to Tottenham and warm the benches. At 19, he has the play regularly to aid his development and unlock his true potential.
Despite reportedly verbally agreeing a move for Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk, Brighton are in no mood to give up on Vuskovic. The bosses at the Amex Stadium internally feel he is the ideal profile to fill the void created by Van Hecke and become the new face of their defensive unit. Thanks to his maturity and leadership skills that belie his age, the prospect of becoming the club’s captain in the future cannot be ignored.
We will see where it goes, but Fabian Hurzeler appears desperate to make the Spurs defender a part of his side this summer.
