Tottenham have been heavily linked with Newcastle star Sandro Tonali.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move to bring a new marquee midfielder to Hotspur Way this summer, and it looks like the Lilywhites are playing a tug of war between two prime targets.
Two Premier League midfielders, Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes, have been narrowed down in terms of options apparently, where the Lilywhites are rivalling Arsenal & Man City for the former while Manchester United push them for the latter.

Roberto De Zerbi has been leading the charge of a major roster revamp at N17, and that can be seen in four signings that the North Londoners have already made. Spurs have brought in Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka.
But with a bit of defensive revamp done, it is time to shift the focus to the second phase, and that is exactly what Tottenham have been doing, and that can be seen in the two £75m bids that Tottenham have made to sign Sandro Tonali last week.
And to add to those couple of bids, Tottenham have also gone on to agree on personal terms with Tonali on a £12m-a-year wage contract, which adds pressure at Newcastle United’s end.
Tottenham ready to shatter transfer record for Tonali transfer
According to a recent report from TeamTalk, there is an expectation that Tottenham will return with a bid which is near to the £100m figure that the Magpies are expecting for the Italian maestro.
Any bid with the aforementioned figure will shatter Tottenham’s transfer record, which is currently the £65m that the Lilywhites spent to bring Dominic Solanke to N17 in August 2024.
This is more than just a marginal increase; this is more like a fee that stands well over fifty per cent more than anything Tottenham have ever paid for signing a player before.
We have seen Tottenham operating quite smartly under Levy for years, but it looks like the club are ready to come into the post-Levy era with some sort of a rebirth in the transfer window, and it looks like Tottenham are ready to put their money where their mouth is in terms of backing De Zerbi.
While Newcastle rejected Spurs’ bid, Eddie Howe & Co. have already started their push to sign a possible Tonali replacement, as the Magpies are now looking to make a move to bring Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha to St James’ Park.
