Lucas Bergvall has expressed a wish to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer. The central midfielder wants to ensure he is playing regular first-team football next season after finding himself on the periphery under De Zerbi.

Nottingham Forest have the 20-year-old high in their thinking as they look to replace Manchester City-bound Elliott Anderson, while Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on his situation. Napoli have also expressed an interest, although the Lilywhites’ €50m asking price for the player remains a stumbling block.
Now, Swedish journalist Mattias Eckerman has given transfer advice to Lucas Bergvall. He has urged the youngster to take a step down in club stature rather than chase a bigger move to aid his development.
“It’s a very nice environment for players to develop in,” Eckerman said in the VM Direkt studio on Fotboll Direkt.
“He shouldn’t go up in terms of club size but maybe a little bit downwards, if you can say that about Brighton and Nottingham who both came before Tottenham last season.
“These are clubs that are doing better at the moment.”

Indeed, should Spurs manage to get deals for Tonali and Fernandes over the line, it is improbable to see Bergvall start ahead of them in the middle of the park. After a season full of struggles, the Swedish international cannot afford to waste another year of his development. Thus, he wants out of Spurs, but whether the N17 officials sanction his exit remains to be seen.
