Tottenham have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Premier League star.

The North Londoners have begun the summer transfer window with a bang. Four signings have all been wrapped up, while reputable journalist David Ornstein revealed that our club have agreed an £85 million guaranteed fee with West Ham for the signing of Mateus Fernandes. Alongside Fernandes, Roberto De Zerbi also wants to bring in Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United to add much-needed technical quality and legs in the middle of the park.
Creating and scoring goals were a huge issue for Tottenham last season. It comes as no surprise that the North Londoners are also looking to strengthen their attack in the coming months. Following ACL injuries to Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons, coupled with the expiry of Randal Kolo Muani’s loan, De Zerbi is short of options in wide areas of the pitch. It is an absolute necessity to sign wingers as part of the rebuild.
Tottenham-linked Marcus Rashford could end up staying at Manchester United
Reports from recent weeks suggested Tottenham’s interest in signing Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.
The 28-year-old is part of the England squad at the ongoing 2026 World Cup. He spent last season on loan at Barcelona, helping them win the La Liga title with an impressive 28 G/A contribution. However, Barcelona decided against triggering the £26million buy-option in the loan deal with Manchester United.
The Spanish giants signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United in June, but they are still interested in another loan deal for Marcus Rashford. However, transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano (h/t GIVEMESPORT) has revealed that Rashford is ready to play for Man United under coach Michael Carrick. The Red Devils have held talks with the England international, and they are now open to welcoming him back to training to start pre-season with Carrick.
This development would be a blow for Tottenham’s hopes to sign Rashford. They are now facing the prospect of missing out on the Wythenshawe-born star. There are limited options available in the transfer market that could immediately elevate the quality of our attack, and Rashford is one of those.
Now that the forward could be reintegrated into the United squad by Carrick, the Lilywhites must turn their attention to alternative targets to improve their potency in the attacking ranks.
