Tottenham Hotspur have been looking at a major summer rebuild as the decision-makers at Hotspur Way look to ensure that Spurs are not thrown into the far end of another relegation battle next season.
And we can feel that sense of urgency in the transfers that the North Londoners are making this summer. Tottenham have already concluded four transfers this window, and adding to the aforementioned four, Spurs are also almost certain to land Mateus Fernandes after agreeing on an £85m price tag for the Portuguese with West Ham.
With Fernandes almost through the doors at Hotspur Way, Tottenham are still quite active in their pursuit of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United after agreeing on a £12m-a-year contract with the Italian maestro.
If Tottenham are to find a way to attain his signatures, De Zerbi would have two of his midfielders for the starting eleven even before a ball for pre-season is kicked.
Bergvall opens up on possible Tottenham exit
This is where the midfield congestion can end up with possible exits at Hotspur Way. And that is where someone like Lucas Bergvall will pursue a move away from Tottenham, looking to go to a place where he can get regular minutes under his belt.
That is exactly what the Swede cited when he was addressing his future in an interview after France triumphed over Sweden in the Round of 32 at the World Cup.
Speaking to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet via Sport Witness, Bergvall said:
“I want continuous matches in my position. That is the only goal. We’ll see what happens in the future. I’ve only been focused on the World Cup until now. We’ll deal with whatever comes next. I don’t know – we’ll see.”

Bergvall has been one of the better developing youngsters at Tottenham, and the decision-makers at N17 would certainly want him to keep putting in work at Spurs. He has that engine in him alongside the capacity to be useful in box-to-box as well as in a creative role. But most importantly, Bergvall has a very high ceiling, so selling him now would be premature.
That being said, Tottenham will use that money to buy players who can bring immediate impact (something that the fans have been craving). There will be no doubt that Bergvall will start finding his feet wherever he lands, but Tottenham also have to take off a springboard when the next season commences, and a possible exit can work out for all parties.
