Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United.

After agreeing an £85m deal with West Ham to sign Mateus Fernandes, the North Londoners ramped up their efforts to pursue Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali. We have been the frontrunners in the chase for the Italy international, who enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 season, despite the Magpies’ struggles.
The season sparked interest in the 26-year-old from a host of top Premier League clubs, but the Tottenham chiefs have been internally confident of cracking a deal. And now they have managed to do it.

According to transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano on X, Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United in a deal that could reach £100million. A deal between the two clubs has been struck, with Spurs paying an initial £92.5m for the Italian midfielder, plus an additional £7.5m in proposed add-ons.
Personal terms between Tonali and Spurs were never expected to be a problem, but the Toon Army remained dogged on their valuation. They have already rejected two bids from the Lilywhites for their star midfielder after opening club-to-club talks last month.
Tonali was identified as a top target by De Zerbi as he looks to bring more composure, calmness, technical quality and physicality in his midfield. The Spurs boss has played a key role in convincing the ex-AC Milan man to snub offers from other big clubs and join his booming project in N17.
Just a day after shattering their transfer record for Fernandes, the North London club have done so again to land Tonali in what is a huge statement to the rest of the Premier League. The prospect of him lining up with Fernandes in the middle of the park is quite tantalising.
Massive credit to the Lewis Family and the club’s new leadership to deliver on their promises and give De Zerbi the required tools to compete in the Premier League next season. Breaking the club record for transfers in back-to-back days is quite remarkable, something our fans may not be able to digest.
