Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Sandro Tonali, with the club announcing the deal on Instagram just minutes ago, subject to a work permit. The likes are flooding in as expected, a reaction that captures what supporters have been waiting four days to see formalised since Fabrizio Romano’s “here we go” on July 2.
The fee, confirmed by David Ornstein at The Athletic, is £92.5 million plus £7.5 million in potential add-ons tied to Champions League qualification, taking the total package to £100 million. It breaks the club record Spurs had set just days earlier with the £85 million arrival of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, and takes their summer spending north of £200 million. Tonali will earn in excess of £275,000 per week at the club, per The Times, almost doubling his wages at Newcastle.

Newcastle signed Tonali from AC Milan in 2023 for £55 million and are now set to make a profit of around £45 million on a player who struggled in his first season at St James’ Park after serving a ten-month ban for betting violations, but returned in 2024/25 to remind everyone exactly what he is capable of.
