Cole Ramsey joins Tottenham Hotspur from Aston Villa.
Tottenham have completed the signing of Cole Ramsey from Aston Villa for Wayne Burnett’s under-21s squad, securing the 18-year-old attacking midfielder following his departure from the West Midlands club after 13 years of development.
Ramsey spent the entirety of his youth career at Villa before departing this summer. His final appearance for the Villans came for their U18s against Tottenham at the end of April. He has football pedigree in the family through brothers Jacob and Aaron Ramsey, both of whom are well-settled top-tier footballers.
The attacking midfielder’s credentials carry genuine promise without demanding immediate first-team advancement. Last season, Ramsey made 19 under-18 Premier League appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
These stats indicate a young attacker who was involved consistently and who contributed meaningfully across a substantial sample of matches. That profile matches Tottenham’s evident recruitment philosophy under Roberto De Zerbi and academy director Dave Bentley.
For Tottenham, Ramsey is somewhat a calculated risk that academy recruitment should entail. Low financial commitment combined with genuine footballing promise provides a straightforward equation.
