The Tottenham star has done a brilliant job at the World Cup when called upon.
Djed Spence’s future at Tottenham is increasingly uncertain. Per insider @szyexcl, the 25-year-old may leave the club this summer, a development that will surprise few given the shape of Spurs’ squad rebuild.
Spence made 30 Premier League appearances in 2025/26, starting 23 of them, but the arrival of Andy Robertson from Liverpool and the continued presence of Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie might have effectively closed the door on regular first-team football for him next season.
Tottenham have also signed Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke as part of a wholesale defensive overhaul, and with De Zerbi assembling a settled backline, there is simply no obvious route into the starting eleven for a player who has spent the past two seasons as a versatile squad option.
Everton lead the chase for Djed Spence but European interest exists too
The Athletic reported last week that Everton have identified Spence as a priority right-back target, with David Moyes keen to bring him to Goodison Park. TEAMtalk confirmed that Spurs are open to selling at the right price, with Spence’s Transfermarkt valuation sitting at around £25.6 million. Everton are not the only interested party.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported in March that Juventus were monitoring the situation, and they still are, attracted by his versatility and his previous loan stint at Genoa where he worked under sporting director Marco Ottolini. Interest from other European clubs has also been noted, per TEAMtalk.

Spence is contracted at Spurs until 2029 and is not agitating for a move. Football Insider reported that his focus remains on the World Cup for now, with England through to the semi-finals. Post-tournament, his future becomes the conversation. Given what is being built at N17, departure looks the most logical outcome.
