It’s been over a year since the star last featured for Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur had their fair share of injury problems last season. And we saw how these problems translated into underwhelming performances on the pitch.

But while there were a few injuries that happened along the season, there were a couple that translated from the campaign before. One of them was James Maddison, who added a timely return to help Tottenham in their survival battle at the far end of the season. Another of them was silky Swedish midfielder Dejan Kulusevski.

The former Juventus man has been serving on the sidelines for more than 13 months following a knee injury that he suffered. There were expectations among the Swedish management that he would be back for the World Cup, but much to their disappointment, he was not aboard in time to be present in the United States with Graham Potter & Co.

Their team doctor explained his tricky injury earlier in the ongoing offseason. He threw light on the cartilage injury that he had and how it was a tricky one and how Dejan has not been recovering quickly enough given the stress that the cartilage is under. But now the Lilywhites faithful have a reason to be optimistic about the possibility of having him back when the next season comes around.

Tottenham get Kulusevski boost

The 26-year-old has already been showing signs that would fill Spurs supporters with optimism. Over the last month he was among the first group of Tottenham players to report for the preseason at N17. And now, Football.London have pointed out that Dejan Kulusevski was spotted working in the gym at Hotspur Way.

Having him back donning that training jersey and among the corridors of Hotspur Way should surely mean that he is not far off from getting back (at least that is what Tottenham fans would be hoping).

There is more good news at N17

The aforementioned report states how he has been taking strides in his rehab along the summer in Sweden. And that is not where the good news stops for Spurs supporters. Two other injured players, Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert, could also be taking strides in their recovery, with both of them being spotted at the gym alongside Kulusevski as we head into the early days of the pre-season.

How big of a boost will it be for Tottenham to get Dejan Kulusevski back among contention, especially given the injury to Xavi Simons? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
