Tottenham are facing stiff competition from AS Roma for the signing of a West Ham attacker.
Tottenham Hotspur have accelerated their pursuit of attacking reinforcements, as Roberto De Zerbi looks to add creativity and goals to his side for the 2026/27 season.
Spurs have spent £237m on six new additions to their squad this summer, but none have been flair players. The club bosses have been focused on outgoings over recent weeks, with the likes of Radu Dragusin, Luka Vuskovic and Alfie Devine departing the club. That is now expected to change, with reports suggesting that Tottenham are set to up their ante to sign Manchester City winger Savinho.
Savinho has been the primary target to bolster the wide areas of the pitch all along the summer. After a period of lull, the North Londoners are now planning to close the capture of the Brazilian international. Alongside Savinho, we also remain interested in West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville.
Tottenham get AS Roma warning for Crysencio Summerville
Crysencio Summerville was one of the few shining lights in an otherwise dismal campaign for West Ham. While he managed only five goals and four assists in 31 games, it was his dribbling, bursts of acceleration, incisive passing, technical ability and directness that caught the attention of several clubs in the Premier League and in Europe.
Spurs have been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old ever since he tormented Thomas Frank’s side in West Ham’s 2-1 win in North London in January. Summerville has only got better since that game, and he enhanced his reputation further with strong displays for the Netherlands at the World Cup. £50m is said to be the amount that West Ham are demanding for Summerville, but he has a £40 million clause in his contract following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship.
Now, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma have stepped up their pursuit of the West Ham attacker. They have been in talks with Summerville’s agent since the start of the week to discuss the feasibility of a deal. The Dutchman is open to a move to AS Roma, as he wants to remain in top-tier football.
The Serie A outfit will first look to agree personal terms with the 24-year-old. Then, the next step will be to submit an official offer to West Ham. AS Roma have Champions League football to offer Summerville, and that could well influence his decision as he explores his next destination.
The Giallorossi intensifying the hunt for Summerville’s signature is a warning to Tottenham. Now, Spurs may have little time to waste if they want to win the race for the ex-Leeds United man.
