The industry consensus on Lucas Bergvall’s valuation is now clear. Per David Ornstein, Tottenham are seeking £60 million for the Swedish midfielder, a figure that narrows the field of potential suitors considerably but has not deterred the clubs already in pursuit. Nottingham Forest have been the most persistent, submitting multiple offers across the summer window. Newcastle have been circling as well. None have met Spurs’ asking price yet.
Bergvall submitted a transfer request at the start of the World Cup, having grown frustrated with his limited role under Thomas Frank during Spurs’ turbulent 2025/26 season. Roberto De Zerbi and the club’s leadership attempted to convince him he had a future at N17, but those conversations have not shifted his position. Aston Villa and Chelsea also held interest during the season itself, though Forest have since moved to the front of the queue.

The £60 million price tag will raise eyebrows given Lucas Bergvall managed only 23 Premier League appearances for Tottenham last season, starting only a handful of them. Three separate injury spells across December, January and a longer ankle problem from January to March 2026 disrupted what was already a peripheral campaign. Sweden took him to the World Cup but he contributed little to their Group Stage exit.
Context matters, though. Bergvall arrived from Djurgarden for £8.5 million in July 2024 and in his debut season played 45 times across all competitions, helping Spurs win the Europa League. He is contracted until June 2031 and is 20 years old. His market value sits at €35 million per Transfermarkt. Spurs are not giving him away easily, and on that basis, £60 million is not an unreasonable position to take.
