Tottenham Hotspur has been looking to bring in reinforcements in the attacking department in the ongoing summer window. We have seen the North Londoners already revamp their defense as well as midfield, and now the chiefs at N17 have started pondering attacking options.
And this is where the North Londoners have been looking to bring in someone with Premier League experience to take over the wide attacking role.
Tottenham had been linked with West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville following his impressive performances in the 2025/26 campaign.
Time and again, we saw him take the ball deep and dribble through the sequence and make it into a goal-scoring opportunity. And after the conclusion of the season, we also saw him do the same in the World Cup for the Netherlands.
Why Tottenham were interested in Crysencio Summerville
Tottenham’s interest in him made sense given how Roberto De Zerbi likes to have players who can carry the ball from out wide but can not only hold width but also be equally threatening when playing in a more inverted role. This gives his side more tactical dynamism (think Mitoma in his Brighton team).
But while Spurs ponder whether to put their money where their mouth is, Italian giants AS Roma have compounded their interest in his signature.
They made a €46m bid to sign him last week, which was blown off by the Hammers. But according to a recent report from Gianluca Di Marzio as relayed by Sport Witness, Roma have improved on their bid, with the 24-year-old being open to moving to the Italian top tier.
Roma pushing to land Summerville
Algemeen Dagblad (in the same report from Sport Witness) insists that AS Roma, with their head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, have given a detailed outline of their project to the Dutch international. And in that outline they have also put through how integral his contribution would be to it.
They are said to be giving Summerville a five-year deal alongside a pricey weekly wage that can push him towards a Roma transfer.
For Tottenham, this is a massive blow, especially given how Summerville regularly contributes in goals. To put it into context, he has 4 goal contributions for the Netherlands in the four games he played in the recently concluded World Cup. It is to be seen where the club goes from here (in terms of wing targets).
