Tottenham full-back is on the radar of Serie A giants.
Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence had an impressive 2026 World Cup, becoming one of the standout performers for England under Thomas Tuchel. He was a key player in helping England beat France in a 10-goal fest to secure third place at the World Cup and win the Bronze medal.
The 25-year-old was called up to the showpiece event off the back of a decent campaign, where he made 44 appearances in all competitions. Djed Spence’s form for Spurs in the last 12 to 15 months, coupled with his displays at the World Cup, has caught the attention of Inter Milan.
Inter Milan are looking for a new right wing-back after Denzel Dumfries’ move to Real Madrid in a €20m deal. Spence is the latest target on the Serie A club’s agenda after the deals to sign Marco Palestra and Anan Khalaili fell through. They have officially opened formal negotiations with the North London club to explore a move for the England international.
Inter Milan make first official contact with Djed Spence’s agency
Inter Milan are pressing ahead with efforts to see whether Spence can be lured to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in this summer’s transfer window.
Now, according to Italian journalist Luca Cerchione on X, the first official contact between Inter Milan and Spence’s agents has now taken place. Spurs are seeking €35m for the full-back, which is currently deemed excessive by the Italian champions. The Nerazzurri are looking to see how keen the player is to join them as they feel that may help them push his price down.
Tottenham handed Spence a new deal only last year, which runs until 2030. That, coupled with the defender’s top-flight experience, age, versatility and performances at the World Cup, has led to the N17 chiefs demanding a sizeable fee to part ways with him. The Kensington-born talent has become an important player at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, so Inter will need to splash the cash to sign Spence.
However, the Milan-based outfit are currently completely unwilling to meet Tottenham’s asking price for the full-back. This means there is a gap in valuation between the clubs. Due to the pricing disagreement, Inter want to apparently agree personal terms with Spence’s entourage with the hope that the player pushes for a move away from Tottenham. This might result in the North Londoners providing some discount on their valuation.
Spence appears open to a move to Cristian Chivu’s Inter, although he is yet to agree personal terms with them. A high-profile move to Milan would represent an exciting fresh chapter for the flying English full-back, offering him a golden opportunity to regularly compete in the Champions League and for trophies.
