Tottenham ready to make an offer for highly-rated Benfica winger who shone for Norway at World Cup 2026

Tottenham are planning to raid Benfica for highly-rated winger.

It comes as no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur are now looking to strengthen their attack in the coming weeks. After scoring fewer than 50 goals in the Premier League last season, signing a new striker has become a necessity for Roberto De Zerbi.

Reinforcing the forward line would give De Zerbi’s side a boost to secure European football next season while also helping them compete for domestic trophies. In addition to a centre-forward, Spurs are also scouring the market to improve their wide options. The club have been in talks with Manchester City over the signing of Savinho since almost the start of the summer.

Latest reports suggest Savinho is close to joining Spurs. Alongside the Man City winger, Tottenham have also been keeping tabs on the Benfica star.

Tottenham ready to make offer for Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup

It recently emerged that new Benfica boss Marco Silva wants to keep Andreas Schjelderup at the club this season amid interest from several clubs, including Tottenham. Andreas Schjelderup enjoyed a productive 2025/26 campaign with Benfica, providing 10 goals and seven assists from 43 matches.

His stock rose at the World Cup, when he starred for Norway with a goal and three assists. The young winger was excellent in Norway’s shock 2-1 win over Brazil in the Round of 16, before scoring an outrageous goal in the 2-1 defeat to England in the quarter-finals.

Despite Marco Silva being keen to work with the player, Portuguese newspaper A Bola claims that Tottenham are ready to make an opening offer for Schjelderup. We are willing to make an offer of around €40m including bonuses, but this may not be enough as Benfica value their prized asset higher than that figure.

The Portuguese giants are well aware of Tottenham’s interest in the 22-year-old, whose current contract expires in 2028. The club president Rui Costa has already talked about the renewal offer with Schjelderup’s entourage, although the wide attacker wants to leave the club this summer and the Premier League appeals to him.

Schjelderup’s desire for a new adventure should come as a boost for Spurs. The Norwegian winger would be an excellent fit in De Zerbi’s system, adding pace, directness, dynamism, flair and goal threat to Tottenham’s attack. He can operate on both flanks, and at 22, the attacker isn’t yet the finished product. So, he’d be viewed as a long-term investment at White Hart Lane.
