Tottenham interested in 21-year-old winger from Coritiba who are ‘playing hardball’

Tottenham are scouring the Brazilian market for a talented winger.

After half a dozen signings, Tottenham Hotspur bosses are focusing on adding quality and depth to their forward department.

The North London club needs fresh additions in the wide department. Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are unlikely to play again in 2026 after suffering ACL injuries, while Randal Kolo Muani has returned to PSG after his loan expired. Roberto De Zerbi cannot compete in the Premier League next season with just Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel as the wingers, which is why the Lilywhites must recruit dynamic talent with high upside.

Tottenham interested in Coritiba talent

According to ESPN Brazil journalist André Hernan on X, Tottenham are among the clubs following Coritiba winger Lucas Ronier. Clubs from Italy are also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old.

Coritiba would like Lucas Ronier’s career to follow a similar path taken by compatriot Matheus Cunha. Currently at Manchester United, Cunha left Coritiba very early in his career to move to Switzerland. He played for Swiss side FC Sion before establishing himself in Germany with RB Leipzig and Hertha BSC.

The Brazilian club want to follow the same developmental plan with Ronier and want him to take the next step in his career at the right moment. Despite growing interest, Coritiba are not actively looking to sell Ronier. However, André Hernan claims that they are bracing for serious offers this transfer window.

“Coritiba are playing hardball over Lucas Ronier because they know they have a gem on their hands”, Hernan said.

“The club have no great desire to sell him and, so far, no offer has really caught the attention of the board in this new phase the club are going through.

“That said, they do believe something could arrive during the current transfer window. The market is opening up for this very talented player.”

Tottenham must loan out Ronier after signing

Tottenham have been scouting Ronier since the turn of the year. Since making his senior debut for Coritiba back in 2023, the 21-year-old has gone on to rack up 108 appearances, registering 17 goals and nine assists.

Spurs have to come up with a proper plan to convince Ronier to sign on the dotted lines. There is growing interest in the diminutive Brazilian, thus, the North Londoners have to present the best package, both sporting and financially, to get his signature. And if he agrees, our club chiefs could loan the winger out to a competitive European league for experience and adjustment.
