Tottenham star have been offered to Fiorentina by an intermediary.
Tottenham Hotspur have signed six players for a combined £237m this summer, but the last of those was completed at the start of July. It has been quiet for weeks on the incomings front since the club-record signing of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United.
After reinforcing the defensive and midfield units, Roberto De Zerbi wants to make multiple additions to Spurs’ forward line this summer, including a winger, before the new campaign gets underway. Simultaneously, the Italian wants the club to move on players surplus to his requirements.
The North London club have sold Luka Vuskovic and Will Lankshear, whilst loaning out the likes of Radu Dragusin and Alfie Devine. They also want to move on Cristian Romero, Richarlison and Guglielmo Vicario from the roster to make space for fresh faces. Another name that has surprisingly popped up on the club’s chopping block is Dejan Kulusevski.
Dejan Kulusevski offered to Fiorentina
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla on X, Dejan Kulusevski has been ‘offered’ to Fiorentina through an intermediary. The Serie A side are considering the creative midfielder alongside several alternative targets and are carefully assessing every aspect of a potential deal, particularly given he is only just returning from a lengthy injury layoff.
Dejan Kulusevski has now been sidelined for more than 14 months with a patella injury, and much to his disappointment, he was unable to recover in time to feature for Sweden at the World Cup. The 26-year-old has undergone several surgeries to fix his cartilage issue, and after the playmaker was spotted training on his own on the grass at the start of the month, Spurs fans have been optimistic about his return.
Kulusevski has been left out of the 35-man travelling squad for the pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia. This development, however, may cast doubt over the Swedish international’s fitness.
From Tottenham’s perspective, Roberto De Zerbi may want Kulusevski to go out on loan and prove his fitness. After more than a year on the sidelines, he will naturally struggle for rhythm and confidence. De Zerbi is rebuilding the squad and will not be able to guarantee the playmaker minutes once he becomes fit to play.
So, the Lilywhites would be wise to loan out Kulusevski in the coming weeks. It remains to be seen whether Fiorentina decide to accelerate their pursuit of the player after being offered via an agent. Fabio Paratici, former Spurs’ sporting director, was crucial in signing the Stockholm-born star to Tottenham from Juventus, and he may just pull the strings behind the scenes for Fiorentina to reunite with him.
