Lucas Bergvall’s desire to leave Tottenham has put several Premier League clubs on red alert.
Tottenham Hotspur wasted no time in transforming their defence and midfield in the early weeks of the summer transfer window. Six fresh faces have already become part of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad, and there are still more to follow.
Simultaneously, Spurs are also focusing on the outgoings. Luka Vuskovic, Will Lankshear, Radu Dragusin and Alfie Devine have all departed the club, with some more players expected to be on the way out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming weeks. Lucas Bergvall is among those seeking an exit.
The Swedish talent has emerged on the radars of Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United. Nottingham Forest have been the most persistent in the pursuit of the youngster, submitting multiple offers in the last couple of weeks. None have met Spurs’ asking price yet.
Juventus and Chelsea are also keen on Lucas Bergvall, though Nottingham Forest have since moved to the front of the queue. But now a new club has entered the race for his signature.
Brighton preparing to hijack Nottingham Forest’s move for Lucas Bergvall
According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, Brighton and Hove Albion are preparing a move for Lucas Bergvall. They are ready to blow Nottingham Forest out of the water to get a deal done.
Tottenham have slapped a £60m valuation on the Sweden international, and it has emerged that Brighton are set to enter the transfer race. The Seagulls will look to table a record-breaking bid that matches that North London club’s valuation to bring the central midfielder to the Amex Stadium.
The report adds that the key decision-makers at Brighton have identified Bergvall as a priority target, and they believe that they can help him develop into one of the next big stars of the Premier League.
Brighton plotting second summer raid at Tottenham
The south coast club fought off interest from several clubs to sign highly-rated defender Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham. The successful signing of Vuskovic has given them hope of raiding Spurs again for another talented player.
Bergvall is an exceptionally young midfielder, but his prospects of featuring regularly at Tottenham next season have been reduced following the big-money signings of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes in June. So, his desire to leave the club for a new challenge makes complete sense. Spurs have already sold Vuskovic to Brighton and will be open to Bergvall’s departure as well, should the Seagulls match his £60m valuation.
That said, the Seagulls entering the race for the Stockholm-born prodigy spells danger for Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.
