Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Vicario has been long linked with a move away from Hotspur Way this summer. While there were excessive links with a move to Inter Milan ahead of the summer window, the Serie A giants opted for an alternative option in Ivan Provedel over the 29-year-old.
While that doesn’t change the Lilywhites’ stance over Vicario, as they will look to find possibilities to sell the former Empoli man.
Tottenham eyeing keeping department reshuffle
Tottenham have been keen on reshuffling their goalkeeping department this off season. And the first thing Roberto De Zerbi did was hand Antoin Kinsky a new contract showing the trust that he and the club hold in the Czech international who goes into the new season as the number one choice for Spurs. Deputizing Kinsky would be Dubravka, who himself is coming off a strong season with Burnley.
This gives Tottenham an ideal opening to sell Vicario. And the North Londoner’s stance clearly shows in the fact that he is yet to feature for Spurs in the ongoing pre-season campaign. Which gives a boost to the reports suggesting that the Lilywhites would be open to sanctioning a possible sale for around £20m this offseason.
Serie A duo still options for Vicario
According to a recent report from Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are said to have held talks with Serie A duo Juventus and Napoli for Guglielmo Vicario as Vinai & Co. looks for a possible exit route for the 29-year-old. The duo was bound to be holding talks with the player and his representatives, but it looks like they have progressed it into club-to-club talks, suggesting that a transfer may happen.
Juventus are looking at Vicario as an alternative for Emiliano Martinez, who is set to leave Aston Villa this summer and has been extensively linked with a move to Juve.

For Vicario and Tottenham, this would be an ideal time for the 29-year-old to pursue a challenge away from Tottenham. Let’s be honest, he is too good to be a secondary option, and Tottenham cannot continue with him holding that number one spot given the problems he has faced from dead ball situations that have drawn a lot of critics over the past couple of seasons.
We will see where this goes from here, but if you ask most of the Tottenham supporters, there is a wide expectation that he would be lining up between the sticks in Serie A by the time we come to the end of the ongoing summer window.
