Tottenham need to make sure that the attacking department is revamped before the start of the season.
Tottenham have shown no signs of slowing down this summer and have made their ambition clear by backing Roberto de Zerbi in the transfer market. The Lilywhites have secured several high-quality reinforcements in recent weeks. They have signed the likes of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Jan Paul van Hecke to strengthen their defence ahead of the upcoming campaign. Meanwhile, the North Londoners have also brought in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes as part of their midfield reshuffle.
Spurs are not finished in the transfer market and are now expected to shift their attention to other areas of the pitch. It is important that the club finds a way to rejuvenate its attack by signing players capable of making an immediate impact in the final third. The Lilywhites need a profile that can compete with Dominic Solanke for a place in Roberto de Zerbi’s starting eleven.
With Richarlison expected to head for the exit door in the coming weeks, the North Londoners are preparing to identify a suitable replacement before the new season gets underway. The Brazilian finished as Spurs’ top scorer last season, registering 12 goals in all competitions. As a result, it is important that the Lilywhites sign a player capable of producing similar numbers as the club looks to compete at the top end of the Premier League table.
Tottenham dealt with transfer setback after Eli Junior Kroupi injury
It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are pushing hard to sign a new attacker before the transfer window shuts. Recent reports had linked the club with Bournemouth talent Eli Junior Kroupi. It was claimed that the Lilywhites had identified the talented forward as a priority target as they looked to strengthen their attack ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Spurs have now suffered a transfer setback after it was confirmed that Eli Junior Kroupi will be sidelined for three to four months. The 20-year-old has reportedly undergone foot surgery this week and has subsequently returned to England from Bournemouth’s pre-season trip to Austria. It has now been confirmed that the talented forward will miss the opening months of the season as he recovers from the injury setback.
To make matters worse, Graeme Bailey (via TEAMtalk) has now confirmed that Spurs were just 24 hours away from submitting an opening bid worth £80m for Eli Junior Kroupi. The North Londoners had received sufficient encouragement from the player’s camp to launch a bid for his services, with the club also making it clear that they were prepared to go even higher in an attempt to test Bournemouth’s resolve. The same report, however, has also confirmed that the Lilywhites will continue to monitor the 20-year-old as they intend to make a move for him next summer.
Without wasting any more time, Spurs should now turn their attention to alternative targets. Recent reports have revealed that the Lilywhites are keen on making a move for Barcelona star Ferran Torres before the transfer window shuts. The Spain international is open to a new challenge, and it is believed that the North Londoners would not have to spend a significant portion of their budget to bring him to N17 before the start of the new season.
Will we see Spurs make an attempt to strengthen their attack in the coming weeks? Or will Roberto de Zerbi be forced to rely on Richarlison and Dominic Solanke as his two striker options? Only time will tell.
