Tottenham are looking at alternatives after Eli Junior Kroupi has been ruled out for months following foot surgery.

After struggling to score goals last season, one would thus expect the Lilywhites to prioritise a new No.9 this summer. It has been widely reported that Spurs are assessing a move for Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi. The France Under-21 international took the Premier League by storm since his transfer from Ligue 1 side FC Lorient last summer. He logged 13 goals in his debut season in England, helping Bournemouth qualify for the Europa League.
Kroupi’s form had seen him linked with a move away, with Tottenham among the clubs to show interest, but Bournemouth’s stance has been that they are not willing to entertain offers for him. Unfortunately, as per reliable journalist David Ornstein, the 20-year-old has undergone surgery to repair a fifth metatarsal fracture. This has ruled Kroupi out of action for three to four months, thereby putting a dent in Tottenham’s pursuit of the Frenchman.
Barcelona star viewed as Kroupi alternative by Tottenham
According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham have lined up Barcelona forward Ferran Torres as one of the alternative targets for the injured Kroupi. The other two names on the list are Club Brugge’s Nicolo Tresoldi and Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani.
Bournemouth have been demanding over £80m for Kroupi, and while he is now set to miss the start of the season following a foot surgery, Spurs have made it clear they remain keen on the richly talented youngster and intend to revisit a possible move next year once he has recovered from injury. For now, though, the North London outfit are being forced to look elsewhere as they look to bolster their attacking ranks under De Zerbi.
Ferran Torres has been heavily linked with an exit from Barcelona. The forward’s future has grown uncertain at Nou Camp despite his goal helping Spain beat Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final earlier this month, with the 26-year-old hesitant to renew a contract that expires in a year and strong interest arriving from Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.
However, the report adds that Tottenham have already held discussions with intermediaries regarding Torres’ situation and are keeping a close eye on developments.

Torres was instrumental in Barcelona winning the domestic double last season. The Spanish international netted 21 goals and supplied three assists in 49 appearances, whilst scoring the decisive goal to help his nation win the World Cup.
At 26, the versatile forward is richly experienced, and having previously played in the Premier League in Manchester City colours, he should not have problems hitting the ground running if a move to Tottenham happens. While he has attracted interest from PSG and Atletico Madrid, Spurs could lure Torres back to the Premier League by presenting a sporting pitch where he would become the club’s first-choice striker.
