There were a boatload of clubs interested in the starlet.
Tottenham Hotspur are priding themselves on building a pathway for academy prospects into the first team, be it at Hotspur Way or beyond. And that is exactly what the chiefs at N17 have been doing lately with the mass loaning of the young players that aid their development along the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.
There have already been a lot of young players who have departed Tottenham this summer on a loan move or on a permanent transfer, including Luka Vuskovic, Will Lankshear, Alejo Veliz, and Alfie Devine, but the common denominator is their pathway to regular minutes. And with all the aforementioned starlets, there is also the club’s golden boy, Mikey Moore, who has been attributed to a lot of suitors going into the final weeks of the summer window.
And now it looks like another Spurs academy man would be on the move in the upcoming days, with over thirty clubs interested in pouncing on his services for next season.
30+ clubs interested in Tottenham starlet
Spurs academy striker Mason Melia has emerged as a wanted man, with a report from Tom Barclay pointing towards that 30+ number mentioned above.
Melia signed for Tottenham in 2025 when the North Londoners paid €2m to bring him to N17 from Ireland (which clearly shows that the decision-makers at Tottenham do rate him highly). But it is not just Tottenham that rates him highly; Melia already has a couple of senior caps for the Republic of Ireland national team, showing that they also hold him in high regard and are hoping he develops into his potential. And this is where getting regular minutes under his belt makes sense.
While he is yet to make his first-team debut donning the Spurs badge since his move to the capital city, he did feature for the North Londoners in Roberto De Zerbi & Co.’s recent 1-1 draw against Sydney FC last week.
Tottenham choose Melia destination?
Lilywhite Rose builds on the report from Barclay suggesting that among the potential suitors, Melia is closing on a move to the English second tier with Lincoln City closing in on a loan move. Taking to X, they wrote:
🚨EXCL: Understand Mason Melia (18) is in advanced talks to join Championship side, Lincoln City on a season long loan deal.

Best of luck Mason ☘️ pic.twitter.com/3K2DhZEyyy
This should be a good move for the teenager given he will get some minutes in the grind of the English second tier, which is so grueling that it makes men out of kids (and that is exactly what Tottenham would be hoping for).
