25-year-old Georgian forward from La Liga among names considered by Tottenham

A La Liga forward has emerged on Tottenham’s radar.

Tottenham Hotspur were planning to make an offer for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, only for the youngster to suffer a metatarsal injury in training. Kroupi has since undergone surgery and is ruled out of action for the next three to four months.

This has forced the North Londoners to identify alternatives to bolster their forward options heading into the new season. Dominic Solanke endured an injury-plagued 2025/26 campaign, struggling with ankle and thigh issues that hampered his impact. Richarlison shouldered the bulk of goalscoring responsibility with 12 goals, but he is into the final year of his contract and there is no guarantee of the Brazilian staying at the club beyond September 1.

This clearly shows why Spurs must sign a new No.9 in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window. It looks like the Lilywhites have revived their interest in a forward they were keen to sign last summer.

Tottenham eye move for Villarreal forward

According to reliable club insider Paul O’Keefe on X, Tottenham are understood to have Villarreal’s Georges Mikautadze on their radar as they continue to explore striker options during this transfer window.

Georges Mikautadze moved to Villarreal last summer after a productive campaign with Lyon. The Georgian international impressed in his debut season in Spanish football, scoring 15 times in 42 appearances in all competitions for Villarreal. Notably, he shared the Euro 2024 Golden Boot after scoring three times for Georgia, helping his nation reach the knockout stage during their first appearance at a major tournament.

The 25-year-old’s goalscoring exploits at Villarreal has led Tottenham to reignite their interest in him. Mikautadze would fit the brief as a quick, agile, intelligent, hardworking and versatile option to improve De Zerbi’s attacking ranks. The Georgian’s versatility should appeal to the Tottenham boss the most, with the player capable of operating from the left, leading the attack or as a secondary striker alongside a pure No.9. His directness and explosive pace will be extremely handy on the break too.

Interest is still at an early stage, but the ex-Lyon man has the qualities to improve the Tottenham squad. With a contract running until 2031. Villarreal would look to make a sizeable profit if they consider selling Mikautadze after just one season. So, our N17 chiefs have to be ready to splash the cash if they intend on signing the talented Georgian.
