‘I’m starting to get concerned’ – Tottenham called out by journo for not bringing in attacking reinforcements this summer

Tottenham have made no progress in signing attacking reinforcements this summer

There is simply no denying that Tottenham have shown immense ambition this summer. The Lilywhites had a clear plan in place for their summer targets and managed to lure several top-quality players to N17 during the opening weeks of the transfer window. They have done well to strengthen a leaky defence by signing the likes of Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Jan Paul van Hecke. On top of that, the North Londoners have also bolstered their midfield by landing Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali for substantial transfer fees.

However, Spurs’ ambition appears to have been limited to the defence and midfield so far. There is growing concern that the Lilywhites are struggling to bring in attacking reinforcements as the transfer window slowly approaches its business end. It is clear that there is an urgent need to sign a new attacker capable of providing a different dynamic in the final third under Roberto de Zerbi.

The Lilywhites managed to score just 48 goals in the Premier League last season. The ongoing injury crisis and lack of consistency from several key players were among the main reasons why the club struggled to produce positive results on a regular basis. Spurs had to rely on an inconsistent Richarlison and an injury-prone Dominic Solanke to lead the attack for much of the campaign.

Time is running out for Tottenham!

To go toe-to-toe with the other top clubs in the Premier League, Tottenham must ensure they bring in some top-quality attacking players in the coming weeks. The Lilywhites cannot afford to rely on Richarlison and Dominic Solanke to lead the line for an entire season once again. The former has also been linked with a move to Everton this summer, which could open the door for the North Londoners to sign a replacement before the transfer window closes.

Mitch Fretton has now criticised Spurs for failing to sign a new attacker this summer as the transfer window approaches its business end. Taking to X, Fretton said,

“Call me miserable but I’m starting to get concerned about the fact we haven’t signed a single attacking player yet this summer.”

As Mitch Fretton rightly points out, it is becoming increasingly concerning that Spurs have been unable to bring in a new attacker ahead of the new season. The Lilywhites still have significant funds available to spend but are struggling to lure in a forward who could potentially play a major role at N17 under Roberto de Zerbi. With only four weeks remaining before the transfer window closes, time is running out for the North Londoners to sign a difference-maker for the upcoming campaign.

Spurs have been linked with several prolific names as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the upcoming season. Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Manchester City’s Savinho are the two most notable targets for the Lilywhites this summer. It is believed that both players could end up at N17 before the transfer window closes, giving Roberto de Zerbi greater depth in the final third as the North Londoners aim to compete at the top end of the Premier League table for a change.
